The story of Mélusine’s Door
Heiress of the Lords of Lusignan, Mélusine is the daughter of King Elinas and the Fairy Pressine. She cursed Mélusine to be half a snake half a woman for the rest of her life because she had offended the king. No man should discover her condition. Yet, one day, Mélusine’s husband betrayed his promise not to try to unveil her secret. He found her in her bath with the tail of a snake. She cried out in despair and flew off the window. The famous French fairy is associated with building castles and water.
